Maternity Tea & Tour
Enjoy a relaxing and informative afternoon touring our labor, delivery and recovery rooms, newborn nursery and postpartum areas. Small groups tour each area and have the opportunity to ask questions.
Preparation for Childbirth
This 12-hour series covers all aspects of the childbearing period for the woman and her coach.
- Anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, labor and delivery
- Comfort measures for pregnancy and labor
- Specific relaxation techniques
- Breathing patterns for use during labor
- Effective pushing methods for delivery
- Discussion of hospital procedures
- Cesarean childbirth
- Postpartum adjustment
Because of the popularity of the classes, women are encouraged to register early for a series that will begin in the seventh month of pregnancy and end three weeks before delivery.
Baby Care Basics
This two-class series is designed to acquaint the parent-to-be with skills necessary for new baby care. New parents are taught development of the baby, layettes, nutrition, bathing, feeding and safety in this series of two classes. Films are included as well as discussion of helpful hints on living with the new baby.
A one-session class for the pregnant and early postpartum woman with information and techniques for breastfeeding. Fathers are encouraged to attend.
Labor, Epidural and Neonatal Care
Learn about pain relief options in labor and the benefits and risks associated with each option, along with a comprehensive discussion about care of the newborn. Topics cover anesthesia administration, caring for the ill or premature infant, the role of the neonatologist and what to expect with a cesarean birth.
Learn the techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation for infants (birth-1 yr.) and children (1-8 yrs.). This three-hour program includes lecture and demonstrations in CPR and procedures for clearing an obstructed airway. There will be hands-on practice of the skills learned. Course Cost: $25 per person
