Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center is committed to caring for women throughout their life, providing healthcare, wellness, education and support to meet their unique medical needs. With this in mind, Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Women's Health Services was established as a healthcare resource for women in the San Fernando Valley, where our intensively trained, experienced team of healthcare professionals deliver the highest quality care.

Our women's health team members partner with each patient, empowering her to take control of her health through wellness programs, exams and education. If illnesses or conditions do arise, we are able to blend medical expertise with the latest technology and treatments as they affect women's health specifically. We focus on providing comprehensive, compassionate care for women in one location.

Although many health conditions can affect both men and women, some affect women differently, presenting with different symptoms and requiring different medication dosages or even alternate types of treatments. Some diseases occur more commonly in women than in men, such as arthritis, lupus, breast cancer and depression. Then there are, of course, those conditions that only affect women, such as pregnancy and menopause.

Women are frequently the healthcare providers for their families, taking care of other family members' needs while neglecting their own. Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Women's Health is sensitive to women's needs for convenient access to regular checkups and screenings, and, if necessary, treatment as well. Some common conditions we treat include:

  • Arthritis
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Breast care and mammography
  • Cardiology with special needs of women in mind
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Diabetes
  • Digestive disorders
  • Endometriosis
  • Gynecologic laparoscopy
  • Gynecological oncology
  • Incontinence
  • Menopause
  • Neonatal intensive care
  • Osteoporosis
  • Pregnancy and prepared childbirth
  • Rheumatology disease/lupus

The birth of a baby is the birth of a family. At Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana, caring for women also includes caring for babies. Opened in 1983, the Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Women's Pavilion was established to provide a full spectrum of care before, during and after pregnancy in a state-of-the-art facility, all in one convenient location. A leader in comprehensive maternal child health care, the Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Women's Pavilion has been designed to ensure the healthiest possible pregnancies, deliveries and babies.

The Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Women's Pavilion focuses on family-centered care, beginning with education classes about pregnancy, childbirth, baby care and parenting. Obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, certified nurses and lactation consultants all work together to provide the best possible birth experience.

For those times, however, when the unexpected occurs, it's comforting for new parents to know that Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Women's Pavilion also houses a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which has consistently ranked in the top ten percent in the nation.

The Resource Center is your source for all kinds of information about women's healthcare issues, obstetrics, pediatric healthcare, newborns and more. Our full-time resource nurse is your guide to the vast resources available, including:
