September 15, 2016

Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a non-profit focused on combating anti-Semitism and bigotry of all kinds, presented Providence Tarzana Medical Center with the 2016 Corporate Community Service Award at the 33rd Annual ADL/El Caballero Golf Tournament & Awards Dinner on Wednesday, September 14. Dale Surowitz, who accepted the award on behalf of Providence, has been Chief Executive Officer of Providence Tarzana Medical Center for nearly 20 years and was pleased to be a part of the ceremony.

In 2015, Providence Tarzana funded $3.8 million dollars of charity care and community benefit services including support for programs such as Community Access to Care, Community Health Promotion supporting Latino communities, Mental Health Outreach, Faith Community Health, Mobile Wellness Clinic, School Nurse Outreach and Tattoo Removal, which served over 24,400 individuals.

“All of us at Providence Tarzana are deeply honored to receive this Corporate Community Service Award. We feel a deep connection with our community and strive to always deliver on the Providence mission of providing for the needs of the communities we serve, especially for those who are poor and vulnerable,” said Dale Surowitz, a community resident. “We’re thankful for recognition from the ADL, a pillar of the Los Angeles community and a group who works tirelessly to bring diverse communities together.”

Providence looks forward to continuing to serve our community with the Tarzana Reimagined project which includes enhancements to the current 21-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the existing 33-bed Women’s Pavilion, expanded diagnostic and treatment areas, a redesigned lobby and visitor reception area, new Emergency Room for improved access to critical care and additional parking.

The Providence Tarzana Foundation enables the Medical Center to keep pace with advances in lifesaving technology while responding to the unique needs of our San Fernando Valley communities. Through the generosity of our neighbors, our Foundation will continue to ensure that our Medical Center remains a place of hope to all who come to us in need.
