Neil Macready named vice president, executive director

Neil Macready, a former fundraising executive for the University of Southern California, took the reins today as vice president and executive director of the Providence Tarzana Foundation.

The foundation supports the not-for-profit Providence Tarzana Medical Center, raising money for capital projects, equipment and programs to enhance patient care.

Macready brings nearly 30 years of fundraising experience in a range of disciplines to this position. Most recently he was senior associate dean for advancement at the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at USC. During his tenure, the $750 million Dornsife campaign total increased from $305 million to $455 million, and annual cash and pledge contributions increased from $32 million to $136.6 million. MacReady also served as chief development officer for the $150 million USC Shoah Foundation Institute campaign initiative where the campaign total increased from $41 million to $70 million.

“Collaborating with the caregivers, administrators, board members and donors at Providence Tarzana Medical Center is an extraordinary opportunity,” Macready said. “Providence’s mission to serve everyone who needs our help resonates with my own values, so the chance to serve this community by helping to fund access to the highest quality healthcare is a challenge I am eager to tackle.”

Macready also served as vice president for university relations at the University of Redlands and as director of development for the Pacific Region of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America in Manhattan Beach, among other notable roles. He attended USC where he received bachelor’s degrees in political science and geography, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where he obtained a master’s degree in Sport Management.

Neil’s predecessor Patty Williams is transitioning into a new role as senior development officer where she will focus her attention on major gifts prospects.

Providence Tarzana Foundation is the dedicated fundraising arm of Providence Tarzana Medical Center, a regional, community hospital with 245 licensed beds, an advanced emergency department with state and local designations as a designated stroke center and a STEMI receiving center for critical heart patients as well as state certification as one of only two Pediatric Medical Centers in the San Fernando Valley. PTMC announced a partnership with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in 2013 that is creating a regional hub for pediatric care in the San Fernando Valley. Providence Tarzana has been named for the past three years among the top 5 percent of hospitals in the nation for quality care.
