One of the most rewarding roles in healthcare is the volunteer. At Providence Health & Services, volunteers work in nearly all departments – comforting patients, working in offices, running the front desk where they assist visitors, bringing their trained dogs to visit with patients, visitors and staff, helping with special events and more.
Numerous volunteer opportunities are available at Providence medical centers and in special programs including hospice. Volunteers are screened and undergo training before being assigned to a wide variety of duties. They are all ages, from high school through senior years.
As a nonprofit Catholic healthcare ministry, Providence is grateful to its teams of volunteers for the countless skills they bring to enhance care. Annual assessments show tens of thousands of work hours by volunteers who perform many millions of dollars worth of service to Providence.
