Chemical Dependency Services
Recovering from alcohol and drug abuse can change your life and the lives of those around you. For more than 30 years, Providence Little Company of Mary Recovery Center has offered a premier chemical dependency rehabilitation program addressing the needs of the chemically dependent and their significant others. Our inpatient and outpatient programs, certified by The Joint Commission, treat chemical dependency as a primary, progressive and chronic disease.
Chemical dependence is a disease in which the abused substances have caused changes in a person's body, mind, and behavior. This addictive process can lead to physical illness, behavioral problems, mental and emotional problems, serious societal consequences and spiritual bankruptcy.
For questions about our inpatient, partial inpatient and outpatient programs, please call 310-514-5300.
We provide treatment for addiction, abuse and/or dependency of the following drugs:
- Prescription medications
- Opiates (e.g. heroin, opioid pain medications such as Oxycodone)
Many times people with addiction also suffer from mood disorders - such as anxiety or depression. This is referred to as dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorders. The Recovery Center along with our Bridges Psychiatric Services program work together to help people with dual diagnosis achieve recovery from both substance abuse and mood disorders.
Participation in the Addictions Recovery program is strictly confidential. Special admitting and follow-up procedures are designed with patient privacy in mind.
Referrals and Admission
Individuals may self-refer to treatment. You may also be referred by your physician, a mental health professional or friend.
The Addictions Recovery staff are educated and trained in the treatment of adults experiencing problems with alcohol or other drugs. Our multi-disciplinary approach encompasses medical, mental health and chemical dependency professionals.
We accept a variety of insurance plans including Medicare, and most health insurance/managed care plans (HMO, PPO). We do not accept Medi-Cal as a primary health insurance plan.
The Recovery Center is located adjacent to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro. Nestled in the hills of the Palos Verdes Peninsula; the center provides a supportive and healing environment that encourages individuals and family members to fully participate in the treatment process to ensure optimal response.
Our full continuum of care includes assessment, detoxification, inpatient treatment, day treatment, and a range of outpatient services. Chemical dependency professionals will recommend an individualized blend of the following services:
Chemical Dependency Diagnostic Assessment/Evaluation
A biopsychosocial assessment provides a clear indication of the level of impairment caused from chemical dependency. Our specially trained staff will complete an assessment and use the findings to develop an individualized treatment plan.
Legal Documentation of Assessment/Evaluation
Specific documentation and report generation for individuals as required by the court.
History and Physical (H&P)
A history and physical are required for all individuals admitted to inpatient programs.
Twenty-four hour medically directed detoxification services are provided to patients whose symptoms are sufficiently severe to require primary medical services. Length of stay depends on individual medical need, typically between three and five days.
The Variable Length of Stay Program is based on the individual needs of each patient. A patient may stay in inpatient for only a few days, while another will stay for several weeks. The decision on the length of stay is based on clinical and medical need and is determined by the multidisciplinary team. The program offers an organized service, staffed by designated addiction treatment personnel and an addiction credentialed physician. Patients have ready access to psychiatric, medical and laboratory services.
Partial Hospitalization/Day Treatment
The Partial Hospitalization/Day Treatment Program generally provides daytime structured treatment services, clinically based on individual treatment needs. Treatment takes place during regular working hours, but the patient returns home in the evening and attends self-help recovery groups during non-treatment hours. The patient lives at home and has to assume more responsibility than would be the case in an inpatient setting. A prerequisite for this level of care is a stable recovery environment as well as a solid support system.
Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
The Intensive Outpatient Program involves structured day or evening treatment. For clinically appropriate patients, this program provides essential education and treatment components while allowing the patient to apply their newly acquired skills within the "real world" environment. The program has the capacity to make referrals for medical and psychological consultation. This is a variable length of stay program based on clinical need.
