In Good Company Spring 2017

March 17, 2017

A word from our Chief Executive and Campaign Co-Chairs

In our second edition of In Good Company, we are proud to share with you some of the unique aspects of our women and children’s health service line. Family-centered care is a hallmark of our Torrance and San Pedro medical centers and we look forward to growing with you!

Did you know that our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) was the first unit in Los Angeles County with private, single-family rooms? The rooms were designed to meet the highest level of care, reducing the overstimulation of newborns, decreasing the infection risk and providing privacy for new families. This unit has neonatologists available 24/7, dedicated to serving the most vulnerable babies.

Both our San Pedro and Torrance medical centers are designated “Baby-Friendly®” hospitals, with every member of our medical and nursing staff committed to facilitating immediate skin-to-skin bonding and providing breastfeeding education and support to mothers and newborns.

Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance has a CCS-certified NICU and pediatric unit, meeting the most stringent regulations for excellence in the care of high-risk patients as set by the State of California.

Our birthing center features state-of-the-art labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum suites with brand new labor beds, wireless fetal heart monitoring (which allow mothers to be mobile while in labor) and the most advanced infant security system available. Laborists, or physicians who specialize in caring for hospitalized laboring mothers, are available at all times and complement our recently-introduced Gentle C-section procedure.

Additionally, we offer women of all ages the latest in 3-D digital mammography (tomosynthesis), genetic testing and pelvic floor integrity programs; while our new surgical weight management program can help you lead a healthy lifestyle.

Many families begin at Providence Little Company of Mary and we are proud to partner with you in health and wellness throughout life so that you don’t miss a moment.

Please join us in our Nurture and Heal Capital Campaign to support the refurbishment of our pediatric and maternity inpatient suites. Through your generosity, we can continue our legacy of family-centered care.
