The Radiation Oncology department of the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center is a truly innovative, state-of-the-art Radiation Oncology facility, equipped with the most cutting edge technology to treat cancer in the San Fernando Valley. The Radiation Oncology team provides an integrated approach to cancer care designed for optimal patient care, comfort, and convenience.
The department offers stereotactic radiotherapy (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), brachytherapy, and Zevalin, as well as 3D-conformal radiotherapy and electron treatment.
The Center is equipped with three new Elekta linear accelerators, two Infinity™ models and one Axesse™ model. The latter enables the delivery of stereotactic radiosurgery to small tumors or lesions in the brain, spine, lung, and liver. This equipment also has the ability to perform VMAT, or volumetric modulated arc therapy, which involves multiple revolutions of the machine around the patient delivering the radiation in an arc-like fashion. Both technologies allow for highly focused, precise radiation while minimizing the effect on surrounding healthy tissue.
Our board certified Radiation Oncologists specialize in brain and spinal cord cancer, breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, genitourinary cancer, gynecologic cancer, head and neck cancer, lymphoma and hematologic cancer, sarcoma, skin cancer, thoracic/lung cancer, and treatment of certain benign conditions with radiation. The Adolescent and Young Adult Program focuses on treatment of cancers occurring between the ages of 19-39 and to provide follow-up care for patients who received cancer treatment as children.
