The Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center offers leading edge, patient-centered treatment, equipped with the latest technology focusing on a variety of cancer conditions.
Our full spectrum of oncology care includes prevention, detection, diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment, rehabilitation, and support services. The Center's Radiation-Oncology Department, under the direction of Rex Hoffman, MD is equipped with the latest equipment for simulation, brachytherapy, image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and other treatments. Additionally, the Philips "Ambient Experience" lighting system allows patients to choose the temperature, color; sound and video in their treatment room, helping them relax during treatment.
The Integrative Medicine Program offers integrative therapies including yoga, meditation, herbal medications and other complementary treatments proven to be effective in helping cancer patients when used in conjunction with conventional treatments including chemotherapy, radiation and surgery.
Our infusion area, conveniently located within the center, provides a comfortable, soothing environment where the patients are able to watch movies during treatment, if they choose, or request that a volunteer sit with them and keep them company.
The Center also provides a formalized Survivorship Program designed to meet the needs of cancer patients and their families at various points in the cancer experience including before, during and after treatment. "All of our programs provide a continuum of care, including cancer prevention, early detection and treatment of all different kinds," said Dr. Raul Mena, the center's medical director who noted that 1.6 million new cancer patients will be diagnosed this year.
