What motivates your desire to give back?
I love the fact we care for the poor and underserved and that we reflect the service culture of the Sisters of Providence “know me, care for me, ease my way”.

Why are you supporting the medical center?
In a moment of complete vulnerability, I experienced outstanding care when I had a very successful quintuple bypass surgery 20 years ago and carotid artery surgery.  The heartfelt care of the doctors and amazing nursing team was comforting to not only me as the patient but to my family.

Why did you agree to join the foundation board?
It has been one of the most profoundly positive experiences of my life. We have transformed the Medical Center and it’s services for the community through the Disney Cancer Center, the neuroscience center, and the new Emergency Services and Urgent Care project. We are blessed to have an amazing high functioning Foundation Board who is totally committed to the mission of Providence. I am thankful that Ed Romano asked me to join 14 years ago.

Why are you supporting the medical center?
With the tremendous advances in the technological aspects of health care, it’s critical that new equipment is made available to our physicians. With reimbursement for services being unable to keep up with the costs of modern technology, it becomes vital to seek funding from other sources.

The St. Joseph Foundation Board plays a crucial role in ensuring funding is available. By joining the Board, I feel I can bring knowledge and expertise to the table and have an opportunity to meet and work with new people that have a similar sense of purpose.
