Dr. Dugel has been practicing ophthalmology in the South Bay since 1986. He received his undergraduate and pre-clinical medical education in England and following medical school spent three months as a volunteer ophthalmologist for a charitablefoundation in Haiti. He then returned to Los Angeles to complete his fellowship training in corneal disorders and transplant surgery.
Dr. Dugel has lectured extensively to the medical community, optometrists, medical personnel and the public. He has coauthored book chapters in his specialty of Corneal disorders and refractive surgery. He has been featured in numerous news articles and local publications and has appeared on several local television programs.
His specialty interests include cataract micro-surgery, lens implants and laser microsurgery. Dr. Dugel is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a former Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety. However, language that may contain profanity, slander, libel or private health information is removed.
