2017 LAUSD Unsung Hero in Education – Sopheap Seang

Sopheapnomination2017Sopheap Seang is a Physical Education Specialist with Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center’s Creating Opportunities For Physical Activity (COPA) program. He is placed at elementary schools in Wilmington that are part of the Los Angeles Unified School District and works with teachers, children, and parents to increase the quality and amount of time children spend in physical education and increase opportunities for physical activity and healthy eating on campus. He was recognized by the Los Angeles Unified School District as an, “Unsung Hero in Education”. The principal of Wilmington Park Elementary School, Lowell Bernstein stated that, “ ‘Mr. S has worked with and taught students and teachers to support healthy living, exercise, and well-being for the entire Wilmington Park community. He has made a positive and lasting impression on Wilmington Park Elementary School.” COPA has served the South Bay service area since 2004.
