For Our Children raises more than $125,000 for TrinityKids Care and Sandpipers’ Philanthropic Programs

June 07, 2013

On Sunday, April 28th, over 900 guests joined together with Sandpipers and TrinityKids Care for The 28th Annual For Our Children Food and Wine Festival, presented by Honda. This event, held on the Honda campus, featured an afternoon of gourmet foods and fine wines from nearly 100 restaurants, wineries and beverage purveyors. As always, guests had the opportunity to bid on fabulous silent and live auction items, and purchased chances to win a 2013 Honda Insight EX Hybrid with Navigation, donated by American Honda Motor Co., Inc. the event’s presenting sponsor.

For Our Children benefits children and their families through TrinityKids Care, a program of Providence TrinityCare Hospice Foundation and Sandpipers’ philanthropic programs. “$125,000 to split between the two charities will go a long way,” said Debbie Felt, Sandpipers President. “We are so grateful to the community for their support of such worthwhile causes,” she added.

Event co-chairs Sharon Martinez and Jim Sala were thrilled with the energy of the day as Live Auction bidders were especially enthusiastic. Travelstore worked together with their travel partners to offer four fabulous trips, and Honda donated, not one, but two sets of tickets to the popular Rolling Stones concert. “We are extremely grateful to all of our auction donors,” said Ms. Martinez. “Their generosity allowed us to raise much needed funds for the children right here in our own community,” she added. Major sponsorship for the event was provided by American Honda Motor Co., Inc., Classic Tents, TravelStore and Bennett Landscaping.

TrinityKids Care is the only dedicated pediatric hospice program for infants and children in Southern California, providing end of life care to children with life-threatening illnesses. Sandpipers’ philanthropic programs provide critical scholarship funding for qualifying students for four continuous years of undergraduate study, as well as community outreach programs that supply ongoing emergency financial and in-kind assistance to children, adults and families at risk within the South Bay community.
