Due to poverty, domestic violence, and alcoholism that were found to be epidemic in many of the families in our catchments area, the children were often hurt the most. Staff is still collaborating with experts in these fields, as well as the police and the department of children services. To help these children, a school counseling program was developed in November 2006 using a graduate master social work student and Senior Peer Counselors.
Staff is currently working on recruiting community members and professionals to form an advisory group to help address the poverty of the community in some way.
