The Gathering Place

The mission of The Gathering Place is to encourage healing, health, strength and confidence in those who have experienced the death (within the last two years) of a loved one. We focus on support groups that specialize in bereavement services for adults, teens and children. They are staffed by licensed professionals, graduate-level mental health interns and trained volunteers.

Support Groups

The Gathering Place, a center for loss and life transitions, offers support to those in the community who have suffered the death of a loved one from any cause.  Bereavement Support Groups for children, adolescents and adults help ease the transition, as well as offer support from facilitators who understand the emotions and difficulties that are part of the grieving process. The group meets for nine (9) weeks.
The groups offered are:
  • Loss of Spouse/Partner
  • Moving Forward (Sequel to Loss of Spouse)
  • Adult Loss of Parent
  • Loss of Child
  • Little Kids Can (ages 5-8)
  • Big Kids Can (ages 9-12)
  • Teen Age Grief (ages 13-18)
  • Young Adult  (ages 19-26)
  • Parent/Guardian Group (runs concurrently for the parents/guardians whose children/teens are participating in a support group)

Pre-registration is required. Minimum member participation in forming a group: 8
Please contact us and we will add your name to the waiting list for the next group.

Community Education
Our community education outreach effort provides bereavement information to the community, as well as referrals to community resources and private practice referrals upon request.

The Gathering Place is funded in part by Providence TrinityCare Hospice, a program of Providence Health & Services, Beach Cities Health District and donations and grants from organizations and individuals.
