sliff_kathyKathy Sliff, MSN, RN, CCRN, CSC, Intensive Care Unit

I work with critically ill patients in the intensive care unit and love what I do. I am proud to say my son, Mike, and daughter, Morgan, also went into health care here at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance. On many occasions, my patients were triaged by my son in the Emergency Department, admitted by my daughter and transferred to the Intensive Care Unit where I cared for them. At Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center, you’re treated like family, by family.

I’m Making History With Every Emergency Department Patient I Treat

louie_AndrewMDAndrew Louie, MD, MPH

I was born at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance. When I became a doctor, I was hired by the same physician who treated me when I was 12 and whom I shadowed as part of a high school medical program. Now, as an emergency department physician, I’ve had the opportunity to treat the physician who delivered me. Every day I am reminded of the compassionate care handed down by generations of Providence employees.

I was drawn to Providence as a new graduate. And more than 25 years later, I’m still here. Two of my three children were born here. The one who wasn’t born at Providence was a volunteer here. I love what I do, and the people I work with. It feels like family to me, and with each newborn I help deliver, I know I’m helping others build their families.

I’m Making History Through Orthopedic Surgery

Halikis_NickMDNick Halikis, MD, Orthopedic Hand Surgeon

Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance will always be special to me. My father was a South Bay physician who practiced at Little Company of Mary. When I graduated from high school, one of my first jobs was as an orderly in their Emergency Department. That job triggered my interest in medicine and my decision to pursue a career as a doctor, like my dad. Now, as a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, I marvel every day at advancements made in surgical care. At Providence, everyone works together as a team with the singular goal of providing the highest quality care. It’s one of the reasons I, and so many other physicians, prefer Providence.

I’m Making History Through Compassionate Care

Chape_AnnAnn Chape, Transitional Care Unit

I have worked at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance for 37 years. Providence is like a family to me. I never knew how close of a family until I needed a kidney transplant and a fellow employee I hardly knew volunteered to donate one to me. This year I celebrate 8 years as a transplant recipient and I’m thankful each day for the compassion shown to me and every patient who comes to us for care.
