Breast MRI

Providence Tarzana Medical Center is home to one of the newest technologies in the detection and assessment of breast cancer. The breast MRI is not a replacement to mammography. However, it is indicated:

  • For high risk women, including those with dense breasts and first degree relatives who have had breast or ovarian cancer before age 50.
  • Certain patients with breast implants, whereby mammography alone is unable to make a complete diagnosis.
  • In patients with a known history of breast cancer, and the extent, recurrence, or metastasis of various types of breast disease, including invasive carcinoma and ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) are in question.

Breast MRI is not for everyone. Your physician will determine if breast MRI is appropriate for your situation.

Breast MRI adds to the continuum of care to the current services provided at Providence Tarzana Women’s Center, including, digital mammography, ultrasound, breast biopsy, and bone densitometry.

Our goal is to be your provider of choice and it is our privilege to serve you and your family’s health care needs. For questions regarding Breast MRI, please call our MRI department at 818-708-5614. To schedule an appointment, please call 818-708-5593.
