The advanced imaging technology at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center includes:
- Computed Tomography (CT or CAT) Scan
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Nuclear Medicine
- Digital Mammography
The state-of-the-art technology at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center allows our physicians and staff to diagnose and treat a comprehensive spectrum of illnesses and conditions, a few of which include:
- Cancer, and investigation of tumors and masses
- Coronary artery disease, heart and valve diseases, damage to the heart muscle following a heart attack
- Problems in the brain, including tumors, blood circulation, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy
- Ectopic pregnancies, pelvic inflammation, masses and pelvic pain
- Muscle and joint pain, muscle tears
- Kidney abnormalities and blood flow
- Bone density screenings, bone diseases and injuries, arthritis, and bone degeneration
Advanced imaging is also used to monitor the development of the fetus during pregnancy and to guide surgeons' hands during precise and delicate procedures.
As an important part of Women's Health Services, digital mammography can provide early detection for breast cancer, increasing treatment options and survival rates. When a mass is detected, x-rays, stereotactic breast biopsies, ultrasound-guided breast biopsies, breast localization and other imaging services are available to give physicians, staff and patients the information to treat breast cancer.
Seamlessly Fusing MRI, CT, PET and SPECT Images Together
Providence is the only hospital-based center in the Valley that can seamlessly blend images from MRI, CT, PET and SPECT scans together using Fusion software. The fusion process matches multi-dimensional medical images to create a "fused" composite of all the data from MRI, CT, PET and SPECT diagnostic images. These images can be viewed at the Imaging Analysis Workstation at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center.
The ability to fuse images can aid physicians in a more accurate diagnosis and lead to improved patient care. Fusing the images improves the physician's ability to analyze multiple datasets over time and quantify the degree of change between the studies.
Viewing MRI, CT and PET Images Through PACS
Providence Saint Joseph's imaging centers give physicians the ability to view all diagnostic images through the medical center's picture archiving and communication system (PACS).
PACS offers secured access through the Internet and provides physicians with real-time, crystal clear viewing of CT, MRI and PET images and patient reports - whether physicians are at the hospital, in the imaging center or even in their private practice office.
PACS also provides an opportunity for physicians to consult on-line regarding an examination in progress, greatly enhancing communications for those delivering care.
Provcare: Physicians Are only a Mouse Click Away from Their Patients
Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center offers physicians a secure online portal, called Provcare, to access patients' diagnostic tests, images, laboratory reports and other critical information. Instant online access helps provide quick and comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plans. Physicians are able to enter orders and provide electronic signatures online from any remote location.
