Peter J. Lynch to Chair Providence Health & Services Valley Service Area Board of Directors

June 03, 2016

Peter J. Lynch has been elected chairman of the Providence Health & Services Foundation, Valley Service Area’s Board of Directors. Lynch joined the board of governors at Providence Saint Joseph Foundation in 2007 and has helmed that body as chairman since 2011. He succeeds Norman Coulson, who remains an active member on the board of directors.

Lynch has been an energetic and enthusiastic leader of the Providence Saint Joseph Foundation board. Among his many achievements in that role are his contributions to expanding board recruitment and identifying senior executives from significant companies to actively serve on the board.

“Peter is a very passionate and charismatic leader who has not only been able to identify exceptional leaders to join him in supporting Providence, but he also has the ability to keep them engaged, which is a real gift,” said Patricia E. Modrzejewski, chief development officer and president of Providence Foundations, Southern California.

During Lynch’s tenure at Providence Saint Joseph, the board successfully completed the Hycy & Howard Hill Neuroscience Institute campaign and fully funded the $4.5 million Cusumano Family Neuroscience Outpatient Center. The $2.3 million Mother and Baby Campaign for the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit was completed, and millions of dollars were raised for the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center. Notably, in 2012 Lynch chaired the first gala to surpass the $1 million threshold– an achievement that underscored the emerging prominence of the foundation.

As chairman of the board of directors, Lynch is eager to embrace the signature efforts of the Providence Valley hospitals, including construction of a new $624 million patient wing at Providence Tarzana Medical Center, development of a comprehensive strategy for Emergency Services at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center and support for the capital needs for an expanded Emergency Department at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center.

“Our ministries excel in numerous areas and I believe we have many opportunities to share best practices between our leaders and caregivers,” Lynch said. “Providence is taking an aggressive approach to improving patient care in Southern California and I look forward to contributing to this transformational effort.”

Lynch is active in the Young Presidents OrganizationWorld Presidents Organization, Chief Executives Organization, and previously was on the board of the Kidspace Children’s Museum in Pasadena.
