Douglas Schreck, M.D., in a roundabout way, became a physician because of his college food choices. Deciding to eat healthier, he took nutrition classes, which inspired him to pursue a career in medicine. While completing his residency, he chose cardiology as his specialty.
With a strong interest in disease prevention, Dr. Schreck encourages his patients to eat healthy foods, lose weight and exercise. He enjoys engaging with patients and helping them maintain their health.
Dr. Schreck serves a leadership role for Providence to improve outcomes for congestive heart failure and acute myocardial infarction and he has worked to ensure core measures are being followed. He is both an interventional and noninvasive cardiologist with an interest in managing congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation and lipids.
Dr. Schreck enjoys running and playing tennis. His wife is a reproductive endocrinologist and he has three children.
The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety. However, language that may contain profanity, slander, libel or private health information is removed.
