From routine check-ups to pediatric critical care, Providence Health & Services, Southern California, offers a wide range of specialized healthcare services for children in comfortable, family-friendly settings.
Services include pediatric well-child visits with our affiliated pediatricians and family practice physicians, hospitalization at Providence Tarzana Medical Center in the San Fernando Valley and Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance in the South Bay and education for parents with children coping with chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma, allergies and gastrointestinal issues. Providence Medical Institute and Facey Medical Foundation physicians work closely with parents or other caregivers, ensuring age-appropriate care for their children, explaining diagnoses, answering questions and modifying treatment when necessary to accommodate parents’ preferences.
Our pediatricians are specially trained to care for children from birth to adolescence. They keep abreast of medical advances and deliver the best leading-edge pediatric care.
Many pediatricians will have additional areas of focus such as; nutritional counseling, Integrative and Holistic medicine, mental health, issues associated with the onset of puberty, weight management and diabetes, behavioral issues and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Treating a child is not the same as treating an adult. Each age and stage of development requires specialized care. From routine check-ups, immunizations and minor illnesses to injuries, genetic defects and developmental disorders, our pediatricians focus on the physical, mental and emotional well-being of their young patients.
To better accommodate working parents, several pediatric offices offer extended hours including early mornings and some Saturdays. Flexible practice hours allow the team members to bring the best healthcare services to their patients, with ease of access and prompt courteous services. Responsiveness to patients’ concerns is the primary goal.
Providence medical centers in Burbank, Mission Hills, Tarzana, San Pedro and Torrance are Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics, a certification of the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical System. Paramedics are aware of this, and in emergencies will bypass other hospitals to get your child to an EDAP hospital. EDAP-certified hospitals have pediatric experts and medical equipment appropriate for young patients.
If you child must be admitted to the hospital, Providence has experts in each of our service areas. In addition to a wide range of inpatient services, our diabetes program reaches into our communities to address the growing concern of increasing numbers of youth affected by diabetes.
