Covered California and Health Care Reform: Keeping Your Doctor and Hospital is YOUR Choice

March 07, 2014

You have the right to choose who provides your care. If your new health plan does not include your doctor or hospital you have until March 31, 2014 to change it.

YOU HAVE TWO CHOICES:

Choice #1: You have until March 31st to change your plan to another Covered California health plan that includes your doctor or hospital.

Choice #2: If your new plan does not include your doctor or hospital you may qualify for “Continuity of Care,” which allows you to continue care with your doctor or hospital (out of network) at no additional cost to you.

Covered under “Continuity of Care” are:

  • Acute conditions, such as pneumonia
  • Serious conditions, such as diabetes or heart disease
  • Pregnancy
  • Terminal illness
  • Care of a child under 3 years old
  • Already scheduled surgery within 180 days of change in health plan coverage

Here’s How You Can:

Don’t give up your right to choose! Make sure your plan includes Providence hospitals and physicians. For more information about how you can switch plans and ensure you can continue to seek care from a Providence provider, call us at (818) 847-3109 or click here
