Patrick passed out at the wheel

April 03, 2014

Patrick passed out at the wheel while driving on the Ventura Freeway, causing an accident. Doctor’s ran tests to find out why Patrick passed out and learned he suffered from tachycardia, a condition where your heart beats too fast.

Cardiologists at Providence Tarzana Medical Center performed a procedure called an ablation, where doctors insert a thin flexible tube into the heart. A special machine delivered energy through that catheter to the tiny area of the heart muscle that was causing the abnormal rhythm, eliminating the problem and restoring his heart rate to normal. A couple days later he returned to high school. Today he is attending college, extremely grateful for the lifesaving care he received.
