A Baby-Friendly Designated Hospital Providence Holy Cross Medical Center is designated as "Baby-Friendly" by Baby-Friendly USA. The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative recognizes hospitals that provide an optimal level of care and information for breastfeeding mothers.

“We feel like it validates the wonderful work we’ve been doing for the health of our patients and our community,” says Sherri Mendelson, RNC, PhD, IBCLC.

Currently there are only 140 hospitals and birth centers nationwide with this prestigious designation. . The Baby-Friendly designation is given after a rigorous on-site survey is completed. The award is maintained by continuing to practice the Ten Steps as demonstrated by quality processes.
