Providence Tarzana Foundation Hosts Annual Gala to Benefit Care for Critically Ill Children and Heart Patients
March 29, 2012
TARZANA (June 16, 2011) - Rafer Johnson, Olympic gold medalist and actor, is among the supporters planning to attend the second annual Providence Tarzana Foundation gala on July 14, an event to recognize those who have contributed to Providence Tarzana Medical Center.
The theme of the gala is “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and it will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Westlake Village.
The foundation will honor Mohammad A. Gharavi, M.D., chief of cardiovascular-thoracic surgery at Providence Tarzana, with its Humanitarian Award. Dr. Gharavi, recognized among the top surgeons in California for cardiac bypass surgery, also is known for his own charitable heart. Dr. Gharavi has worked with the international organization Healing the Children and with other agencies, donating his skills to provide life-saving surgery for heart patients from developing nations.
The Humanitarian Award is given to individuals who exemplify the core values of Providence Health & Services: respect, compassion, justice, excellence and stewardship.
Proceeds from the gala will support the Foundation’s “Giving that Builds” campaign to fund expansions and improvements for the hospital’s renowned pediatric intensive care unit, the cardiac catheterization laboratory and the vascular and special procedures lab.
Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are still available for the event. For information, please contact Lori Bausch at the Providence Tarzana Foundation at (818) 757-4384 or at lori.bausch@Providence.org.
