Taro Yokoyama, MD, PhD, is board certified in both general and thoracic surgery. He received his medical degree from Okayama University Medical School in Japan. Following his internship at Okayama Saiseikai Hospital he completed his general and cardiovascular/thoracic residency at Okayama University Hospital. While serving his residencies, Dr. Yokoyama also wrote his doctorate and received his PhD in physiology. In addition, Dr. Yokoyama received a fellowship in cardiovascular surgical research at Georgetown University Medical Center. A two-year clinical fellowship was completed at the USC School of Medicine and St. Vincent Medical Center.
Dr. Yokoyama's clinical areas of expertise include adult cardiac, general thoracic, adult congenital and vascular surgery. Dr. Yokoyama has published more than forty articles on a variety of topics; his work has appeared in the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and other distinguished journals and books. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology, the Los Angeles County Medical Association, the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs, the Western Thoracic Surgical Association, the International Society for Heart Transplantation, and the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery. Dr. Yokoyama speaks Japanese.
Dr. Yokoyama is a member of the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Staff providing care in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.
