Lauren VanderSpek, MD, is a radiation oncologist. She received her medical degree from the University of Toronto and completed radiation oncology residency training at the University of Western Ontario. She is fellow of and board certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology and the American College of Radiology.
Dr. VanderSpek's clinical areas of interest include primary and metastatic central nervous system (including intracranial radiosurgery), genitourinary (including prostate brachytherapy), gastrointestinal (including liver metastases stereotactic body radiotherapy), breast, and skin malignancies, as well as lymphoma (including Zevalin) and sarcoma.
She has published research on primary and secondary central nervous system cancer and in-situ squamous cell carcinoma of the skin, and presented research on these topics as well as brachytherapy and lymphoma with secondary malignancy at numerous society meetings including the American Society for Radiation Oncology, World Congress of Brachytherapy, and Society for Neuro-Oncology. Her areas of training include linac-based radiosurgery, prostate low-dose rate brachytherapy, 4DCT and gating, intensity-modulated radiotherapy and image-guided radiotherapy.
Dr. VanderSpek is committed to providing patients with advanced, state-of-the-art radiation oncology therapies and upholding compassion by providing high-quality individualized care. Her approach involves understanding the unique needs of each patient and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
Dr. VanderSpek is a member of the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Staff providing care in radiation oncology.
