L. Iri Kupferwasser, MD, is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular diseases, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. He received his medical degree from Johannes-Gutenberg University, Germany, and completed his residency at St. Mary Medical Center/Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He fulfilled his general and interventional cardiology fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. His areas of expertise include clinical and consultative cardiology,cardiac and peripheral vascular interventions, cardiac imaging, lipid lowering, congestive heart failure and preventive cardiology. In addition, his interests include the interventional closure of atrial septal defects and patent foramen ovale for stroke prevention, and carotid artery stenting and minimally invasive stenting of abdominal aortic aneurysms. He has the distinction of being named Outstanding Fellow of the Year by Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for two consecutive years. In 2003, he was awarded the International Aspirin Award in recognition for his research on Aspirin in Infective Endocarditis. Dr. Kupferwasser is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, as well as the European Society of Cardiology. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications, including the Journal of American College of Cardiology and Circulation. Dr. Kupferwasser has lectured extensively on infective endocarditis, hypertension and lifestyle management of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Kupferwasser is a member of the Providence Holy Cross Medical Staff providing care in cardiology.
