Dr. James Higgins graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine. He then completed an Internal Medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital/ Harvard Medical School. He returned to UCLA Medical Center for his General and Interventional Cardiology fellowships.
Dr. Higgins is Board Certified in General, Interventional, and Nuclear Cardiology. His areas of expertise include treatment of coronary artery disease, cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, dyslipidemia, valvular heart disease, coronary and peripheral angioplasty, and stent placement/ rotoblator, trans-esophageal echos, and IVC filter placement. Dr. Higgins was involved in Extensive research in structural heart disease during his training at the UCLA School of Medicine and has multiple peer reviewed publications. He is proficient in medical Spanish.
Dr. Higgins currently serves as the director of the Cardiac Cath Lab and the STEMI receiving center at Valley Presbyterian Hospital, in Van Nuys, California.
