Biography

When all is said and done, says board-certified internist Stanley Golden, MD, it's important we make a difference in the lives of others. For Dr. Golden, medicine has allowed him to do just that. He enjoys educating patients about their health and the aging process, and caring for them through the different stages of their lives.

Dr. Golden received his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, Mass., and went on to complete his residency at Long Beach V.A. Medical Center in Long Beach, Calif.

Outside of the office Dr. Golden enjoys exercising, sports, movies and reading.

This experience was for the purpose of getting blood and urine samples, an ekg, and chest xray for my lung cancer surgery in the next week. All was done in a professional manner. My only complaint is that the imaging center in the same building was not doing chest xrays and I had to drive to another area to get one.

I hadn't gotten a flu shot this year and forgot to ask Dr. G. for it. I called the office the next business day and was easily able to get an appointment with the nurse to give it to me.

Dr. Golden seemed very robotic and in a hurry. He did not offer a flu shot as I've gotten in the past with other doctors. He did not do a prostate exam which I've always gotten with a physical in the past. I inquired about being put back on [...] and he has not responded yet. At least he was more punctual than my other doctors.

For approximately the past 6 years I have been seeing doctors at Providence and [...] once a year to have my blood checked and have 2 prescriptions refilled. The prescriptions are for [...] 90 count with one refill (I take one half of the lowest dose available daily) and vicodin for sciatica, 20 per year, which I use very sparingly). This year I saw Dr. Golden for the first time. He spent about 5 minutes with me (at the most) listened to my breathing and left. His helper [...] said the prescription for [...] will be called in, I asked if it was for a one year supply and was told that it would be. Then I asked what about the vicodin prescription. [...] said "we'll call you when the blood test results are in". I said the blood test has nothing to to with sciatica or the prescription. I got the feeling she just wanted to get me out of there but I stayed put. Then she said vicodin is not on my chart. I said it was there for the past 6 years and sciatica is still on my chart, what happened? She left the room to find out and a while later the guy who took my blood sample came in with the prescription for vicodin (from Dr. Golden). When I went to the pharmacy for the [...] I was shocked to find that it was for 30 count and one refill, instead of 90 and one refill. I looked at the results on MyChart and there was no significant changes (there hasn't been a change in dosage in 6 years). I called [...] and was told that it's up to the doctor. So, what is his reasoning? Since there has been no change in the dosage for all these years (and I'm taking the lowest dosage possible) why do I have to spend 3 times as much per year for office visits and blood tests (a 5 minute visit at that). [...] Very disappointing to say the least. The guy who took my blood sample warned me to make sure I got a years supply [...]

The doctor seemed unfamiliar with my medical history. The doctor focused on obvious symptoms and diagnosis only, did not consider less-obvious potential problems--until pushed an queued by me. Doctor seemed concerned about spending the minimum amount of time necessary with me to obtain one likely diagnosis and offer a prescription asap, without verifying it first--so he could leave.

My doctor quickly mentioned that the outside testing revealed no cancer or serious illness, but did reveal a treatable medical condition. He did not elaborate on what treatments I should consider. He acted like he wanted to finish this follow-up meeting as quickly as possible, brought the meeting to an end with a suggestion to check back in about six months, and moved on to the next patient. I was disappointed in this lack of follow-thru. [...]

My visit with my doctor is always very good;however this office has an entire new support staff (nurses etc.) That being said, these new nurses need to learn better patient manners, work on their attitudes towards patients and treat patients as people vs being a number. The nurse that brought me into the patient room was cold and had no people skills or personality. I have been a patient at this location and with my doctor for over 35 years and never felt this way towards the supporting staff. I actually brought this up with my doctor. Unfortunately it appears you can not teach a person personality and to have a caring attitude towards others. What a shame!

[...] I love this office and my care provider; I have never felt the care I received as inadequate, I just didn't feel comfortable with the customer service of the provider. I feel that the office have made a lot of positive changes in their customer service delivery. When people don't feel well, I believe that good customer goes a long way in the healing process
