Dr. Javid Ghandehari completed his Pain Medicine Fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington and his Anesthesiology residency at Maimonides Medical Center in New York City. He completed his medical school training at the University of Texas in San Antonio and a surgical internship at Rush University in Chicago, Illinois. He has spent time studying cancer pain at both Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City and MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. His interest in clinical pain research included one year at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and his interest in basic science pain research included one year at the University College London and six months at the national research institute I.N.S.E.R.M U-161 in Paris, France.
Dr. Ghandehari manages both acute and chronic pain patients within the in-patient and out-patient settings. In regards to acute pain, he cares for patients after surgery and manages their post-operative pain. He also treats chronic pain disorders including musculoskeletal and spine disorders as well as cancer pain. Modalities of treatment are comprehensive and include interventional pain management procedures with fluoroscopically and/or ultrasound guided injections such as epidural steroid injections or peripheral nerve blocks, trigger point injections, medication management, and examining modulating factors such as sleep disturbance and psychological stress from chronic pain. Living in chronic pain can be overwhelming and Dr. Ghandehari believes in working closely with a care team including psychologists, physical therapists, acupuncturists, and dietitians within the community.
